2021-05-05T12:09:30-06:00

Unlike the Achilles tendon, it is uncommon for the posterior tibial tendon to not undergo acute rupture. This case study reports two patients who had operative treatment of a posterior tibial tendon tear. The study describes the surgical exploration and treatment of posterior tibial tendon injuries among the athletic community.

Necrosis and Gangrene as a Complication of Coumarin Therapy

2021-05-05T12:09:30-06:00

Necrosis of the skin and soft tissue typically affects obese, middle aged women on the third to fifth day of coumarin therapy, but in rare cases it can affect active men. This case report analyzes the affect of necrosis by measuring the pain, erythema, and ecchymoses of the skin to the formation of large hemorrhagic bullae with frank necrosis.

MRI Findings of Snowboarding Osteochondral Injuries to the Middle Talocalcaneal Articulation

2021-05-05T12:09:31-06:00

This study analyzes two cases of subtle injuries to the subtalar joint, specifically, osteochondral defects of the middle facet of the talus and conomitant involvement of the middle talocalcaneal articulation, both sustained while snowboarding. The analysis of the injuries is through 3T magnetic resonance image.

Leiomyosarcoma of the OS Calcis

2021-05-05T12:09:31-06:00

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the bone is uncommon. In literature, only 28 cases have been reported. Of these cases, only one occured in the foot and was located in the talus. This study reports a case of primary leiomyosarcoma of the os calcis, and discusses diagnosis, and briefly reviews the literature.

Knee Ligament Injuries in Children

2021-05-05T12:09:31-06:00

Ligament injuries in the knee is uncommon in children under fourteen, due to the greater resiliency and strength of the ligaments. Nine children who had open physes and ligament injuries of the knee where studied. These children were studied pre and post-operatively.

Intraspecies and Interspecies Comparison of the Compressive Properties of the Medial Meniscus

2021-05-05T12:09:31-06:00

The purpose of this study is to establish a "gold-standard" for properties of the meniscus in the knee. To determine the compressive material properties in the meniscus the study used six animal models at six different topographical locations.
